Just getting started and its time to expand our service area!

It has already been so awesome serving the neighbors in our community, pickup up food scraps, hosting a food scrap drop off on Saturdays and working with our worms and composting tumblers as we start processing everything.

This past weekend we collected 12 gallons of food scraps at our Saturday Food Scrap Drop Off.  This morning we collected 15 gallons of food scraps from our neighbors doorsteps in Tahoe Park, Tallac Village and Colonial Manor.  We also dropped off 2 new collection buckets for new customers and I am so excited for them to get started with us as they choose to keep their food scraps out of the landfill.

Since we began collecting food scraps just a few short weeks ago, we have now collected about 30 gallons of food scraps from our community members.  We've also received 10 lbs of spent coffee grounds from Good Jo Coffee! This community composting effort is already picking up momentum, and I am so excited to announce that we are ready to expand.

East Sacramento and River Park neighbors can begin signing up for service NOW!

East Sac neighbors will receive their first round of bucket drop offs Monday May 24th. Our collection for East Sac will start the last Monday of the month, May 31st.

River Park neighbors, I will be delivering collection buckets Monday May 31st to your area, with collections services beginning June 7th.

Visit our Service Map to see the new areas we are servicing. Find out more about Home Pick Up Service  and Sign Up today!

This is a great time to get your neighbors on board when you sign up for new service and really make a big impact in your neighborhood....AND there's something extra, or should I say less, in it for you both too! When you refer a friend or neighbor that signs up for service, you get $5 off your next payment for each referral we receive from you!  That friend or neighbor ALSO received $5 off their first month's service.

Thank you everyone for your support, encouragement, and asking me to compost your food scraps!

RECLAIMED

As you may also know, we LOVE to repurpose items that have lost their use to others.  We love when our community members help us find these items, to keep them out of the landfill.  Some of the projects that are in regular rotation are maintenance of our composting system and building new composting real estate as needed.  We also build garden containers, raised bed frames, cold frame and other useful small garden structures and everything is done with reclaimed materials.

We currently need:

5 - Large Plastic Roughneck Style Garbage Cans with Removable Lids - We need to set up more Vermicompost Worm bins to manage all of the community food scraps that have been collecting.

Composting Containers. We will also graciously accept composting containers that are no longer being used by members of our community or that need to be rehomed because you are moving.   We will accept any kind of composting container in useable condition.

Newspaper, toilet paper tubes and paper towel tubes.

PVC or similar pipe any length 2 feet or longer - We are setting up self SIPs (Sub-Irrigated Planters).  Pipe that is 8 feet or longer will be repurposed for row covers.

Untreated lumber to repurpose into garden beds and cold frames to extend the growing season.

When these items cannot be gleaned from our community we must search for them elsewhere, and if you'd like to support the cause, feel free to Venmo me @Camille-Potter (916)390-7601.
